SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN No. 3 DEX IMAGING CHEVROLET
START: 2ND
FINISH: 24TH
POINTS: 8TH (-164)
RACE RUNDOWN: A promising night for Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 DEX Imaging Chevrolet went sour late after a mechanical issue relegated him to a 24th-place finish at World Wide Technology Raceway. McLaughlin would roll from the outside pole position and settle into third at the start of the 260-lap race. He would put the DEX Imaging Chevrolet in the lead during a cycle of green flag pit stops on lap 51. McLaughlin would lead the next 51 circuits before dropping back a couple positions during the next cycle of green flag stops. His fortune would begin to shift on lap 148, when he was ordered to give up three positions in the running order for a pit road violation. The DEX Imaging crew would try as they might to make up lost ground, but a mechanical issue on lap 216 brought the No.3 car to pit road and ultimately ended their day.
MCLAUGHLIN’S THOUGHTS: “Something broke in the left rear. Lucky it happened in Turn 2. Coming down the straight, I felt like someone hit me, but the spotter said I was clear. Really bummed for everybody on the DEX Imaging Chevy. Very disappointed because we had a decent car and a good run going.”
