SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN No. 3 SONSIO CHEVROLET
START: 17TH
FINISH: 16TH
POINTS: 8TH (-96)
RACE RUNDOWN: Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 Sonsio Chevrolet team finished 16th in Saturday’s Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. The day began eventfully for McLaughlin, as the No. 3 car sustained slight damage on the opening green flag. Despite the setback, McLaughlin continued on and restarted 10th, but a blocking penalty soon followed, dropping him to 15th. Additional front-right damage began to affect the car’s handling, prompting a pit stop on Lap 17 for service, including a front wing replacement. He rejoined the race in 23rd. Once back up to speed, McLaughlin made steady progress through the field, climbing to 16th after the restart, where he ultimately finished in his sponsor’s entitlement event.
MCLAUGHLIN’S THOUGHTS: “It was a tough day for the Sonsio Chevy. We picked up damage early, had to replace the front wing and battle back. Regardless, I’m always proud of the Thirsty 3s – they never give up. We’ll put this one behind us and focus on getting ready for the Indy 500.”
