SCOTT MCLAUGHLIN No. 3 SONSIO CHEVROLET
START: 4TH
FINISH: 3RD
POINTS: 10TH (-313)
RACE RUNDOWN: Scott McLaughlin and the No. 3 Sonsio Chevrolet team finished third in Sunday’s Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250 for their second podium finish – and sixth top five result – of the season. McLaughlin led Team Penske with a fourth-place qualifying effort on Saturday afternoon. The 2024 Milwaukee winner made a quick pass on the first lap of the race and settled into the third position until the team’s first pit stop on Lap 56. A solid pit cycle pushed McLaughlin to the second position after all of the stops were complete, and he would hold down that spot until a Lap 209 caution for light rain. Like his teammate, Josef Newgarden, McLaughlin and crew elected to stay out during caution after making their final pit stop just 13 laps prior. Unfortunately, he would lose one position over the final laps to race winner Christian Rasmussen who was on fresher tires at the end.
MCLAUGHLIN’S THOUGHTS: “We didn’t quite have the car today in the Sonsio Vehicle Protection Chevy, but, we had a hell of a lot of fans out here today, and that that’s a great thing for INDYCAR and a lot of momentum right now. Great to get a podium and, you know, we’re here for wins, but the podium is awesome. I’m so proud to be back here. We’re having a really good end to the year. That’s exactly what we need for next year.”
